St Matthias Park North (Brentry Lodge Campus)

On 5th September 2016, St Matthias Park North opened its doors to students. The school is a pilot early intervention base (EIB) for pupils in Y7-Y10 (age 11-15) who have been permanently excluded from school or are at risk of exclusion.

St Matthias Park PRU in Fishponds is currently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and has a successful track record of educating such students. Head Teacher Ms Morrison is keen that the new campus at Brentry Lodge will provide the intervention needed to help students in the north of Bristol get back into a mainstream school or a suitable alternative provision.

This new site means that children from the local area will no longer need to travel across town to receive their education. In the past, this journey has proved difficult for many and resulted in a very long journey time each way. Attendance is crucial for student success.

The new site is under the watchful eye of Mr Sales, the Assistant Head with responsibility for the Brentry Lodge. The experienced, dedicated team of teaching and support staff have transferred from the main site in Fishponds and aim to provide broad, balanced and flexible curriculum based on the individual needs of vulnerable students.

St Matthias Park North will work closely with secondary schools in the north of Bristol to help reduce the number of permanent exclusions and improve the life chances for children with a range of complex needs.

The building has been cleaned, painted and refurbished

The Brentry Lodge site has been cleaned, painted and refurbished! A new kitchen has been installed to enable students to learn vital food studies skills. Locals were able to see the improvements for themselves at the St Matthias Park North open afternoon on September 9th. Visitors from local schools, community groups and interested residents were given a tour and met with the staff.

St Matthias Park North is keen to work closely with the local community. Locals are welcome to use the basketball courts and outdoor facilities responsibly, outside school hours.
